2014年4月份的「床下底」放映活動，是由畢業於廣州美術學院的年輕香港藝術家：黃榮臻主理。

黃榮臻是新晉藝術家，剛完成藝術系碩士課程。之前他於廣州美術學院修讀繪畫，學習傳統素描、繪畫技法，與香港藝術院校的課程焦點完全不同。在放映會前，臉書上的觀眾，都對他在美院修讀時的十分細膩的素描習作，有不少討論，如：查看香港藝術院校會否有這類的技巧訓練，何解有如此分別等。

為回應臉書上的熱烈討論，他在放映會開首，也就把他「床下底」的素描習作，以「幻燈片」形式配上徐小鳳的金曲《漫漫長路》播放，把一系列靜態的繪畫，以最當代也最土炮的方式轉化為錄像放映。他說用此曲作背景是想襯托他當年苦練素描的感受。

除此，他也分享了一些在美院畢業後的錄像作品，他坦言，在素描鍛鍊後，其實他更有興趣探索其他的媒介，當中，時間的維度是在後期的作品之重要元素。數年前，他到法國作交流時的一個作品，就是於展覽開幕前把一些圖片貼在牆上，讓它們在開幕時， 因黏貼力減退而慢慢地逐一飄下，極富詩意。他說，當時，有些觀眾還以為他未有把作品裝置妥當。以這種把不同元素錯置的 創作方法，在黃榮臻的另一些錄像作品，又有另一番幽默感。如在《二人三足踢足球》[1] 紀錄了一場用「二人三足」方法進行的足球賽。由藝術家邀請友人一起踢的這場球賽， 充滿了滑稽的場面，比一般的足球賽需要更多的合作精神。另一齣在香港自編自導自演自拍的角色扮演錄像，藝術家在規限多多的公園內，扮演沒有可能會在此情此景出現的「動物」 。兔子毛公仔的扮相 一方面彷彿為短片帶來輕鬆氣氛，另一方面，兔子的卡通造型在公園的寂靜場景內就更突顯當中的無奈感。不過，在兔子駐場的第四天，終於都得到常路過的學生一點關注和開始在手機討論這動物的出現。

「床下底」活動由2013年12月開始至今，已持續舉辦了六個月，我們特意邀請不同年齡的視覺藝術家參與，並嘗試超越純粹放映活動的框架，例如：五月的「床下底」藝術常識問答比賽， 及七月份配合香港藝術學院藝術文學士畢業展的「伍點伍感 x C&G - 藝術家"床下底"談」（日期為 2014年7月13日 (星期日) ,在藝術中心包氏畫廊舉行。

To refresh our memory about the previous ‘under-the-bed’ screening, the following recaps some interesting parts from April’s sharing with the young artist, Wayne WONG, who went to The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts for his art training.

Wayne has finished studying for Master of Art in Hong Kong just now. When he was studying in Guangzhou, he spent quite some time on training his sketch drawing techniques. Such approach of art training is very different from that in the tertiary education of art in Hong Kong. Before the screening session, there were many comments on a post of Wayne’s previous drawing from The Guangzhou Academy over the Facebook event page. Some wondered whether Hong Kong’s art schools would have similar training and why not.

In response to the online discussion, Wayne specially made a ‘slide show’ of his previous sketch drawings, that were literally under his bed for a long time, and played a golden song from the 90s titled, “A Long Long Way,” which was his testimony to that period of art training.

Besides, Wayne also shared some video works after his graduation from Guangzhou Academy. He said he was interested in exploring other art media later on. Amongst was the time dimension in art-making. During an exchange program in France a few years ago, he made an art piece, by posting loosely some printed images on the exhibition venue’s wall. During the opening of the exhibit, these printed images on paper slowly fell off poetically, when some viewers suspected if the artist had properly install the works or not. By juxtaposing various elements out of context, Wayne also made a few performance and video pieces with a strong sense of humor.

For example, the video of “One football, two people, three legs” [1] showed a football game in which all players had to tie one of their feet with a partner’s. Funny scenes often came up and such a game required even more effort and team spirit than a normal football game. Wayne also showed a video of a performance he did in a park in Hong Kong. Wayne wore a carton rabbit’s costume in this park, where the possibility of having “animals” (other than human) was certainly ruled out by its regulations. On one hand, the colorful cartoon outfit seemed to put forth a relaxing atmosphere to the video, but the existence of such a funny animal being alone in such a quiet park ironically made the viewers feel helpless and hopeless. On the forth day during the residency of this rabbit in the park, some students finally started to talk about it over their phone remotely.

It has been six months since our first “Under The Bed” screening in 2013’s December. We specially invite visual artist with different ages, different interests to join the screening session, and also have tried to take this ‘under-the-bed’ series beyond video screening. For example, in May 2014, we had the Art Quiz, and, for July, we will also collaborate with the graduating students from Hong Kong Art School to launch, “ ‘5.5 sense’ X C&G Under-The-Bed artist conversation” on July 13 (Sun) at Hong Kong Arts Center.

黃榮臻小簡介：

於1985年在香港出生。香港混合媒體藝術家。現就讀於浸會大學視覺藝術系碩士課程和08年畢業於廣州美術學院，他的作品通過對特定場景和事件的感知，從時間中看似平淡，卻隱藏著奇異不安的生活里截取詩意。對他來說，藝術不但是一個準確紀錄現實的詞， 更是一種像 “滋養”的精神狀態。他的作品曾於香港，法國，廣州等地方展出，09年獲獎學金赴法國作交流計劃。

About Wayne Wong:

Wong Wing Chun was born in 1985 and raised in Hong Kong. As a mixed media artist, he is studying for his Master degree of Visual Art in Hong Kong Baptist University and graduated in Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in oil painting) in Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2008. His work explores hidden impulsive fragments of living through specific occasion, time and space, often touching on fact and fiction, historical and autobiographical events. His works were shown in Hong Kong, France, Guangzhou. He was awarded the 2009 PASCA Fellowship for the exchange program in France.
